Family Business Consulting
“All Happy families resemble one another, but each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way.”
Leo Tolstoy, Anna Karenina, 1878
When I begin working with a new family business, I conduct an assessment to determine how to mutually define the problems. Then I work with each client to develop a plan forward to resolve the problems.
I often weave some of my services over the course of an engagement (resolving conflict in the family, leadership coaching, strategic planning, succession planning). However, at other times my engagement may only involve one of these services.
In my approach I develop a highly personalized and multi-systemic solution tailored to your unique needs. Even though Tolstoy was not a psychologist, he was correct in his idea that each family (and their business) need a unique solution for their unique problems.
Common situations my clients are having:
-
Intense and frequent conflict that is not getting resolved.
-
A desire to develop and implement a plan for the future (succession decisions).
-
A need for Next Generation leadership development as well as helping to develop a career path within (or outside) the company to build competencies needed for high level leadership.
-
Determining if family members:
- should join or leave the business
- are in the right position in the business
-
Poor communication between the owners, the management team or in the family (as well as a lack of communication between these three key systems).
